Like most airlines, Air France is sending its larger planes to early retirement. Airbus ended the A380 program in 2019 due to lackluster sales. The world’s first double-decker commercial airliner was unprofitable for the airplane maker and now with Covid-19 trimming schedules and capacity, most of the world’s jumbo jets are being sent to storage or the scrap yard. The age of the jumbo jet is officially over. Newer planes like the Airbus 350 with a smaller but with a long-range and only 2 engines will be dominating the skies moving forward. It is a sad day for aviation enthusiasts and certainly for design enthusiasts. It seems like these days, all airplanes look alike as if they are using a standard design. In this video, we join Air France as they bid farewell to the A380.
