While the rest of the world tried to keep people on the payroll during the pandemic, the US allowed millions to be laid-off and furloughed. This will make coming back from the pandemic harder as companies learn to do without these employees and pile on more work on whoever is left. Many jobs might never come back which means that millions will be looking for work in an economy that is shrinking. It’s a nightmare scenario.
