A special holiday message from Editor-in-Chief Cameron Cowan

This is our second Christmas here at Rouges. Last year at this time, we were just a new publication trying to find our way. We were full of potential and still trying to figure out what the publication meant. Now, a year later, we’re more sure of our path but there is still more to do and more ways to grow. We have exciting things planned for 2020 and beyond. We want to keep bringing you interesting things for many years to come.

The holidays are always an interesting time. We remember our loved ones from years past and we get to look around at our loved ones still with us. The holidays are often a magical time where everyone puts in extra effort to create those special moments that we hold with us all year long. We take the extra time to make those dishes we only make once a year. We take the extra time to go to parties, see people, and do things that are special to this special time of year.

People constantly complain about the commercialization of Christmas. Between the shopping and the resulting credit card bills, it can be easy to lose sight of the compassion, love, and empathy that is to be expressed by this winter holiday. That is no reason not to find special ways to express that for yourself. Create those special moments for your family and even your fellow community members. Remember that in the harshness of the cold and snow, it is the human warmth that truly lights up the winter season.

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Rouges!

Kind Regards,
Cameron Cowan, Editor-in-Chief
