Toyota is releasing its first hydrogen-powered car this year. This car uses hydrogen to power its engine and emits water as an exhaust. Hydrogen has the same energy potential as oil and thanks to its water exhaust, it doesn’t contribute to greenhouse gases in that way. The challenge ahead for the adoption of this fuel is two-fold: finding sustainable ways to make hydrogen and installing more hydrogen fuel pumps at gas stations around the country. Although electric cars are popular, their limited range and limited power in high-energy transportation use like trucks, ships, and planes makes electric transportation limited to passenger cars on trips within their range. Hydrogen has none of those problems and now that a hydrogen car is on the streets, the potential for this fuel is growing all the time.
