Air travel would become common for everyone in the 1970s but before that, air travel was expensive and that meant that most people, especially before the Jet Age, still traveled by train. In this great vintage video, we find a step-by-step journey of train travel in the 1950s and how trains operated and got people across the country quickly and efficiently. It also shows that the future may indeed lay in the past when we once again start traveling by train and reduce our air travel to just the longest journeys.

In this video you’ll see great vintage engines, the inside of the sleeper cars and the incredibly classy dining arrangements that were common for train travel in the 1950s.
