Facebook is launching its own cryptocurrency called Libra. Unlike many other cryptocurrencies, Libra is not decentralized but it’s not wholly-owned by Facebook either. Facebook is part of a greater consortium of companies that seems to change every week. Mastercard was part of the group at first, as was Paypal although both have since left the group. Libra may be handling payments via the popular social media network sooner than we might think. That does leave one question, can we trust Facebook to have its own currency or handle our money?
