Boeing was not always the company that ruled the sky. Airbus did not yet exist when Bristol created one of the most important advances in aviation history: the Britannia. The plane was a turboprop-powered liner that seated 100 people. The turboprop was a new technology at the time and that bleed-edge tech as one of the plane’s many problems. The plane was quiet and very large. It took many years to get it off the ground and it had many new technologies that would go on to be included in future planes.

We’ve found an interesting video that tells the amazing story of this plane and how important it was to post-war aviation history.
