In the near future, you might not be buying games or even buying hardware. The future of gaming is quickly moving away from hardware in your home and towards streaming on a variety of platforms and devices. Google, at E3 talked up their new Stadia streaming service. Stadia comes online with plenty of competition like Playstation Now and other services that offer gaming streaming. Google has some advantage in the market but the real difficulty is at the consumer end: ISPs are instituting data caps that could turn consumers away from these services or cause them an additional cost to upgrade their plans. Stadia might not be the final word in gaming streaming but the future is less hardware and more streaming.
