Unlike the in the past where these were often well-paying union jobs, the modern meat packing factory is dominated by immigrants and other people of color. Its back-breaking work that can be dangerous (all those sharp objects) and incredibly unhealthy. The controversies around meat packing stretch back to the 19th century. Meat is also responsible for climate changing gases.
