It’s a term that is very familiar in the LGBTQA+ community as well as the greater world. When someone describes themselves as heterosexual or attracted to the opposite sex, they say that they are “straight.” Part of this has to do with a latent attitude that being gay/lesbian is deviant behavior, as in, deviate from the normal of heterosexuality. It’s merely street parlance but it is indicative of a general attitude towards homosexuality.

In this helpful video, we study the origin of this term, what it means and how we might want to move onto something else.
